Parents (or anyone who is a big kid at heart!)--I would like some input please!

For the wedding, I'm thinking of making the kids their own little goody bags. There will only be six kids total at the wedding (two, possibly three, of which are in the wedding party). I just got an LTD catalog in the mail yesterday and they have Valentine's stuff advertised and some of it is cute. Between that, and hitting the dollar stores, I was thinking of maybe getting the following items for each goody bag:

1. Candy jewelry in the shape of necklaces and bracelets (all but ONE of the kids are girls, so I'll just give something different to the one boy)

2. Little 60-page notepads with hearts on the front (I figure they can doodle in them)

3. Red and white swirled heart-shaped lollipops

What else? Anything else? Maybe a small coloring book with a 6-pack of crayons? Any other ideas for what the kids would like and maybe utilize if they get bored during the reception? Thanks everyone!

Ooh, Michele! Maybe like an Madlibs book? I used to love those!

That would be perfect if they are old enough to write. I'm sure the kids will be running around and playing or dancing. That's a great thought, April!

You are so thoughtful! I agree with the coloring books and crayons. Candy necklaces are fun, just make sure the kiddos are old enough for them to not be a choking hazard (I would think 4? Mine are still too little.) They will definitely be doing a lot of running around and dancing, so don't go too overboard.

I'm an anti-candy mom, so I would skip the treats (there will be cake!)

Love the crayon/coloring idea. Not sure the age of the kids, but littlest pet shop is big with the 4 to 10? crowd -- maybe even older if girls. For under 4 bucks a peice you could get them each a pet shop guy and that could promote playing amongst themselves.???

Bubbles! Kids love bubbles and they add a festive atmosphere to the wedding.... I love that you are doing this to include the kids too! What a great idea!

I love that you are thinking of the kids! Really, for me that's totally thinking of the parents too!

I'm all for the crayons and paper and bubbles!!

I love the ideas ! The baggies would be more for the parents than you think... trust me. I vote for little rings or shiny bracelets vs the candy thing... love the pet shop idea ! Just try to get a different one for each little one and maybe a toy car for the boy.

What a great idea! And I agree with the majority, coloring books and crayons will definitely keep them from getting bored.

You have lots of great suggestions here now. I tried to comment yesterday but it wouldn't let me in for some reason. =P I was going to suggest maybe one of those mini travel versions of a game that they sell. Like Connect 4 or whatever.

You might be able to find the small Etch-A-Sketch's - that would be great for keeping them busy (during the ceremony, maybe?) - I agree with Melissa - they will definitely be running around at the reception!! We only had, maybe three little girls and all they wanted to do was DANCE!! And also to chime in with the others, skip the candy - they'll have cake and honestly, who needs any more sugar??!! Another thing you might want to consider is having like juice boxes and/or milk boxes for the kids to drink - nothing more frustrating than going out (even to a restaurant) and the only thing to drink is soda or water. It really is SO incredibly thoughtful of you to be concerned about them!! Can I come to your wedding?? LOL Kidding!!! The crayons and coloring books are a DEFINITE YES!!

LOVE that IDEA...
skip the candy...add the coloring stuff and bubbles. no rings or other jewelry though...or cars...most parents do not need the added toys after the fact...the coloring stuff and bubbles are very disposable when done ;) just my opinion take with a grain of salt!
