Ugh. Woke up to an incredibly stiff--and painful--back. I called work to say I'll be in around one. I was going to call the chiropractor (yes, I still haven't gone LOL) and give him a shot but I really don't understand how it will make me feel better.

So instead I think I'm going to lay down on a nice warm heating pad and take an 800 mg Motrin/Ibuprofen and hope that does the trick. I'm sure work is pissed but man, oh, man, I could not fathom rolling out of bed this morning! Anyone else have any other suggestions? Massage has definitely given me relief but unfortunately I can't afford another another one right now.

*SIGH* Getting old sucks.

I went to a chiro for my slipped disks in my neck. Felt FANTASTIC when i went there. It does feel odd and a bit painful when he does the adjustment, but quite nice afterwards. You NEED to find a reputable one though. i have heard horror stories from a nero surgeon that had to fix a lot of people.
You try Yoga? slow stretching and core strenghthening may help.

Sounds like if you don't got the chiro way you should get your butt into the doctor...this is to much pain!!

Do you know what the source of the pain is? My cousin in a chiropractor & he says you would be amazed what causes back pain. Anything from your shoulders being out of alignment to one leg being even slightly shorter than the other to having a sore foot. It all affects you because you carry yourself differently to compensate, throwing your spine out of alignment, and causing back pain. I agree with Keri though -- find a reputable one, if you go.

Soaking ina hot bath worked for me, also I went to the doctor and she gave me some Flexirl which is a muscle relaxer, it really helped but it also knocked me out. Good Luck !

My husband got some meditation cd's and listens to those, and it helps some (maybe mostly because they make him fall asleep?). But his pain is usually caused by stress. . .although wedding planning, especially planning on a budget, can cause stress. . .dunno, it's cheap and worth a try I guess!

Go to the chiropractor! I know more than a large number of people who swear by them. You have been in pain too long to not give something new a try!

Aw, that stinks. Just remember "crack your back, Crack your back."
Ooh as keri said yoga might help a lot.

I agree with Dawn, you never know what is causing anything. Sometimes I go into my chiro with a headache and he adjusts my hip, or one time it was my knee! I'm always amazed at the source of the pain. Hopefully the meds worked for you though, back pain sucks!

Sweet Pea! Please go to a chiro! It will take a few attempts (mostly because you waited to long!) but it will help! I don't want to see pictures of you walking down the aisle with a cane! Please try a good chiro!!!

Get better soon!
